The EU might “act quickly and firmly” in response to what it deems “unwarranted” visa bans issued by the US against five European individuals involved in fighting online hate and misinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.
EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures that were at the heart of campaigns to introduce laws governing American tech companies.

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined France in criticizing the move.
The bans were enacted on Tuesday against an ex-European commissioner who helped draft the EU’s digital governance law, along with several anti-disinformation campaigners, including two in Germany and two in the UK.
