Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
