Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
