LA Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Second World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-match World Series championship. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area celebrations included a downtown parade on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Social media videos show countless of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many displaying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the masses, raising the championship trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path ended at the stadium, where the team emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist driving a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities started well before the procession, with supporters setting off flares in the streets of the city center on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a mix of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts punctuating his speech.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
