Much like the recent storm swept through the northern region the previous evening, City blew Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a emphatic 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their title credentials as they strengthened their standing at the top of the table.

Back-to-Back Defeats for Manchester United

This outcome signalled back-to-back Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the first time since spring 2024, putting them seven points off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' ability to balance domestic and European football with a small team has been a hotly discussed topic since they earned a place in the UCL. Considering the fixture list, it always appeared this was the period that would truly test this capability. Sadly for the away side, they appeared tired from start to finish, the historic win against Paris Saint-Germain clearly having had an impact.

Tactical Shifts
