From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
